Can BM Beach Glass work for every home?

Benjamin Moore Beach Glass is a beautiful medium blue, green gray that excels in south-facing rooms or with plenty of natural lighting. It's a versatile paint color that can be used for both interior and exterior applications. However, when it comes to lighting, the design layout of your space and the type of fixed elements you have in your home will play a key role if BM Beach Glass will or will not work in your home.

For example, If you have a room or space that has limited natural lighting or a not a large room it can make the space feel smaller but it can make the room or space feel cozier if that's your objective. If making the space feel cozier is the objective you need to make sure it can pair with your fixed elements and not make the room feel heavy. Another words, if you have light off-white floor tiles then chances are you can pull it off on making the space feel cozy without the room feeling heavy. If you have medium to dark hardwood flooring then chances are you will make the space feel dark and heavy.

So many factors come to play when selecting the correct interior paint color for your space for those of you who want to create a balanced, cohesive and harmonious ambiance in your home.

Is Benjamin Moore Beach Glass the right undertone for your home?

Chances are you have been researching about BM Beach Glass online, reading dozens of blogs or articles and analyzing every picture you can find that has BM Beach Glass. You've read or heard of the pro's and cons about BM Beach Glass. I get it you want to select the perfect paint color for your home and the last thing you want to do is to make a costly mistake.

One of the biggest mistakes many people make when selecting BM Beach Glass is they don't factor in lighting and the fixed elements they have in their homes. If you're concerned about your space looking too dark or cool due to the lack of natural lighting you have in your home then BM Beach Glass may not be the right paint color for you.

When it comes to fixed elements this is where it can become complicated because their are so many scenarios as I can't list all the different possibilities. For example, if you have cherry wood flooring or cherry wood furniture and you want to tone down the cherry wood fixed elements then BM Beach Glass is not the way to go as it will pull out the red undertones instead look for beiges or taupe paint colors to name a few. If you have white oak hardwood flooring then, BM Beach Glass will pair and contrast beautifully.

Next I'm going to share with you a few tips that you should know about Benjamin Beach Glass.

BM Beach Glass Design Tip 1: Trim Paint Colors

One of the most under utilized areas of your home where you can change the ambiance of your home are the interior trim paint colors. The safe approach is to paint your trims with a true off-white such as Benjamin Moore Chantilly Lace.  That's a technique that's been around for decades and often most homes miss the mark on creating ambiance that will completely change the vibe in their home.

One of the first questions I ask my clients when I speak to them in a live video call when helping the client create the perfect interior paint color palette for their home is do you want to keep your current trims as is or do you plan on repainting your trims. If the client needs help with the interior trims I will explain the different options they can do with trim paint colors and why it will work in their home.

For example, if you have medium maple hardwood floors and the kitchen cabinets are a light cream, you want to paint the accent wall with BM Beach Glass, the main interior wall paint color is a neutral medium light beige-greige then I would consider painting the trims with Sherwin Williams Shoji White.  In the image below, you can see how Sherwin Williams looks like a soft light cream when paired with BM Beach glass. This will create warm, soothing and inviting ambiance in your home.

Another example would be if you want to paint the master bathroom with BM Beach Glass (assuming you have the right interior designs layout and lighting), the floor tiles have muted cream beige undertones and you want to paint the vanity cabinets a warm paint color. In this case, I would recommend painting the master bathroom trims the same interior paint color as the trims. Benjamin Moore Ballet White would be the recommended paint color for the vanity cabinets as it pairs well with BM Beach Glass including the fixed elements in the master bathroom. BM Ballet White will look like a creamy greige when paired with BM Beach Glass.

BM Beach Glass Design Tip 2: Soothing Paint Color Pallete

A soothing paint color pallet is gentle, calming, peaceful and relaxing when paired correctly. Their are hundreds of ways to create a soothing color palette for a given space but the purpose of this tip is to open you eyes into what's possible. It's not about being different instead it's about understanding how color can work with one another. I'm going to show you one example how how you can create a soothing paint color palette.

Let's say you want to paint your bedroom main interior wall that reminds you of the beaches in Aruba where the beach sand looks like BM Edgecombe HC-173 then you want an accent wall to be BM Beach Glass where it mimics the deep rich turquoise waters on the coastline. For the trims you can paint it with BM Healing Aloe 1562 a light blue green that looks like the ocean spray when it hits the sandy beach in Aruba.

Warm grays and blue green paint colors pair well with BM Beach Glass as long as it pair correctly with what you have in your space.
