Benjamin Moore Ballet White OC-9: Paint Color Overview

Benjamin Moore Ballet White OC-9 is a beautiful, soft, creamy greige that illuminates a room to feel warm, inviting, light, and airy. If you're looking for a light, warm off-white without cool undertones to brighten your home or room, BM Ballet White might be the right paint color for you. I'm rooting for you, as I want you to get it right, not make a costly mistake, and I want to help you understand some important nuances about BM Ballet White before deciding if this is truly the right paint color for your home.

Notice how I said it's a creamy greige. There is a lot of confusion about the true definition of a greige paint color. To be clear to all of you: be careful what you read, as these days it's hard to discern what is true and what's false, as anyone can say whatever they want online. I encourage you to read it for yourself, open the Oxford English Dictionary, and note that greige is a mix of beige and gray.

Another important detail to know is that there are two categories of greige paint colors. To keep it simple, you have neutral greige paint colors, which are a mix of beige and gray, and creamy greige paint colors, which are a mix of beige and gray with a dominant yellow undertone.
This is where a lot of people struggle on pairing the correct greige paint color and or any paint color for that matter in their home, as this is where the fixed elements, interior design layout, interior decor, artificial lighting, natural lighting and the compass of your home, for example, a north facing room or room, play a key role on whether the paint color will or will not work.
Today, I'm going to show you the undertones of BM Ballet White, provide a few paint colors that pair well with BM Ballet White, including a comparison with BM Soft Chamois, talk about the importance of natural and artificial lighting, and offer design tips for pairing with fixed elements.
I encourage you, in good faith, to watch the video below for a more in-depth perspective on BM Ballet White OC-9.
What Is The Undertone of Benjamin Moore Ballet White OC-9

What I love about paint colors and color in general is that color never lies. This is why I love helping my clients understand how color relates to the fixed and furnished elements in their home. With all the new online technology, persuasive answers and unlimited responses to a question will never emulate a human connection or the real truth of the correct answer.
I will give you an example. There are so many different ways I can show you how the undertones of BM Ballet White will reveal themselves when paired with different paint colors.

Notice when I pair BM Odessa Pink, a soft pink, with BM Ballet White: the creaminess and yellow undertones of BM Ballet White reveal themselves.

Now watch what happens when I compare BM Ivory White, a beautiful light cream paint color. Notice how BM Ballet White reveals the gray undertones and appears muted or muddy.
There is no such thing as the perfect paint color to pair with BM Ballet White, whether for interior decor or fixed elements, because you have to evaluate what you have in your home before deciding if BM Ballet White is truly the right paint color for your home.

I want to help guide you in the right direction. I'm going to share valuable tips on the optimal artificial lighting temperature, provide key details on how BM Ballet White reacts in north- and south-facing rooms, and share some design tips to help you.
Timeless Transitions: Cohesive Color Pairings for Ballet White
There are so many different color palettes I've used over the years when pairing with BM Ballet White for my online clients, all custom-tailored to their interior decor, fixed elements, and the interior or exterior design of their home. I'm going to share three cohesive paint color pairings for Ballet White that create a timeless transition when paired correctly.

Notice when I pair BM Swiss Coffee, which is a creamy greige, with BM Ballet White. The contrast of the BM Swiss Coffee is soft, warm, and inviting. Not stark or harsh. You can use BM Swiss Coffee as a trim, kitchen cabinet, and/or ceiling paint color when paired with BM Ballet White.

Watch what happens when I pair BM Beach Glass with BM Ballet White; you will notice the blue-green undertones of BM Beach Glass. Notice how this pairing creates depth without looking heavy or unbalanced. Pulling this color combination in a home requires important consideration of the fixed elements, including lighting. You can use BM Beach Glass as an accent wall, trim, or built-in cabinet paint color.

Notice that when I pair BM Smoke with BM Ballet White, you can see the dusty blue undertones of BM Smoke. This is a softer transition when you're pairing a blue paint color with BM Ballet White. It can create a soothing and calming ambiance. You can use BM Smoke as trim, interior door, ceiling, or cabinet paint color when paired with BM Ballet White.
BM Ballet White vs. BM Soft Chamois: Which Warm Off-White is Right for Your Home?

I want to show you the key differences between BM Ballet White vs BM Soft Chamois, as the undertones will play a key role if either of these paint colors is the right off-white for your home.

Notice that when I pair BM Ballet White with BM Soft Chamois, you can see how BM Soft Chamois is lighter and crisper, while BM Ballet White is warmer and more muted. What separates the two paint colors is the undertones. BM Ballet White and BM Soft Chamois have creamy greige undertones but BM Soft Chamois has a hint of green undertone. I know how to pair BM Soft Chamois in a home without revealing the green undertone. Expect BM Ballet White to reveal more gray undertone depending on the type of lighting you have in your home.
Benjamin Moore Ballet White OC-9: How Lighting Affects North & South Facing Rooms
The LRV of BM Ballet White is 71.97. It's a soft, warm, creamy beige with pronounced yellow undertones.

Expect BM Ballet White in a North-, NW-, or NE-facing room to appear dingy; you may notice more gray undertones than expected, depending on your home's interior design layout. Don't be surprised to see the undertones fluctuate throughout the day.

I've helped thousands of my clients avoid costly mistakes when they hire me online, as I can instantly evaluate which paint colors will and won't work, their pros and cons, and what to watch out for before they decide on the final paint color.

BM Ballet White in South, SW, or SE-facing rooms, expect to see a soft, creamy ambiance; it will not look washed out when paired correctly and can make a room feel light, airy, warm and inviting.
Please do your homework, get a paint sample or make your own paint sample and compare the paint samples in your home to see how BM Ballet White reacts based on the direction of your room.
Benjamin Moore Ballet White (OC-9): How Artificial Lighting Shifts Undertones

- 2,700K Artificial Lighting: Expect BM Ballet White to have a more pronounced, creamier yellow undertone; this can be beneficial in the evening or in rooms that don't receive adequate natural light, as it can make the room feel cozier.
- 3,000K Artificial Lighting: BM Ballet White creates a warm, inviting ambiance and leans a touch creamier, depending on the spacing of your artificial lighting in your home.
- 3,500K Artificial Lighting: Expect to see BM Ballet White appear cleaner, crisper, yet still display the soft, creamy greige undertone that creates the warm, inviting ambiance you want to feel in a room when paired correctly.
- 4,000K Artificial Lighting: I don't recommend going any higher than 4,000K, as the soft blue undertones of this lighting can skew the undertones, make the lighting start to look flat, and reduce depth.
Benjamin Moore Ballet White Kitchens: Cabinet & Countertop Pairings

I highly recommend you get a paint sample of BM Smokey Taupe and pair it with BM Ballet White; you will notice how the soft taupe undertones of BM Smokey Taupe transition beautifully with BM Ballet White.

BM Smokey Taupe as a kitchen cabinet paint color paired with BM Ballet White as a kitchen interior wall paint color pair well together if you have the right fixed elements in the kitchen, such as kitchen backsplash, flooring, etc. For those of you who can do this in your home, it will be so beautiful!

I love pairing the perfect kitchen countertops for my online clients, as it can be the fixed element that pulls everything together. There are so many variables you need to consider before selecting the right kitchen countertop for your home. If you're looking for a soft, warm quartz to pair with BM Ballet White, I recommend getting a sample of MSI Cashmere Taj. It has a touch of gold beige, a touch of taupe, and a soft, creamy greige that pairs beautifully with BM Ballet White.
