Sherwin-Williams Cold Foam 9504 Paint Color

Sherwin-Williams Cold Foam 9504 Paint Color

Sherwin-Williams Cold Foam 9504 is a beautiful, soft, warm white with the right balance without being overly creamy like Sherwin-Williams Alabaster, and it has a touch more warmth than Sherwin-Williams Greek Villa.

Sherwin-Williams Cold Foam was introduced a few years ago, along with the Emerald Designer Edition of paint colors. This is not a popular paint color online, but don't let that fool you, as I work with this paint color all the time.

I get it, many people Google a paint color, do research, learn all they can, evaluate if it's popular, trendy, or look for negative comments to get a different perspective. This type of research is a double-edged sword: you can gain valuable knowledge, but you can also be influenced by others' opinions, which can be a slippery slope, as the paint color may or may not work well in your home.

For those of you who have been following me for years, you know that I practice what I preach. Please go to my website at jacobowensdesigns.com to read over 800 reviews and see what clients have to say. I'm here to help lead you in the right direction.

Watch the video below for a more in-depth perspective on SW Cold Foam.

What Is A Warm White Paint Color

Like I always say, you can't have a warm white paint color without yellow undertones; otherwise, if you want a white paint color without yellow undertones, that means you want a cool white, such as Sherwin-Williams Snowbound, or SW Extra White.

Or a true white, which means no undertones, such as SW High Reflective White.

I want to help guide you in the right direction. I'm going to share valuable tips on the optimal artificial lighting temperature, provide key details on how SW Cold Foam reacts in north- and south-facing rooms, and share some design tips to help you.

Sherwin-Williams Cold Foam 9504 Undertone, Light Reflective Value, Comparison to SW Alabaster 7008 & Design Tip

  1. The undertone of SW Cold Foam is yellow. The yellow undertone makes this a warm white paint color.
  2. The LRV of SW Cold Foam is 84. It's a soft, warm white with pronounced yellow undertones.

  1. Comparison of SW Cold Foam 9504 vs SW Alabaster 7008. SW Cold Foam is lighter and less warm and crisp than SW Alabaster, which is warmer, creamier, and softer.

  1. Design Tip: SW Cold Foam pairs well with white oak cabinets for those considering new kitchen cabinets.

Sherwin-Williams Cold Foam Important Lighting Details in North & South Facing Rooms

  1. Expect SW Cold Foam in a North-, NW-, or NE-facing room to appear dingy. In the right situations, you can counter this issue with proper artificial lighting or with a warmer white or lighter neutral paint color.

  1. SW Cold Foam in South, SW, or SE-facing rooms has a soft warmth and the right touch of yellow undertones without becoming creamy like SW Alabaster. When paired correctly, it makes a room feel light, airy, warm, and inviting.

Sherwin-Williams Cold Foam 9504 Important Artificial Lighting Tips

  1. 2,700K Artificial Lighting: Expect SW Cold Foam to have a creamier yellow undertone, and sometimes look like a light cream paint color.
  2. 3,000K Artificial Lighting: SW Cold Foam may appear less creamy and balances the warmth of this paint color in NE- or NW-facing rooms.
  3. 3,500K Artificial Lighting: This is the best-balanced lighting for both north- and south-facing rooms, but it ultimately depends on your home's interior layout.
  4. 4,000K Artificial Lighting: If you find SW Cold Foam looks too warm or yellow in a room, you can counter the warmth by going with brighter lighting.

Sherwin-Williams Cold Foam 9504 Design Tips When Paired with Fixed Elements

  1. If you're replacing your kitchen countertops, I recommend ordering a sample of MSI Calacatta Rusta, a warm off-white with a touch of gold beige and minimal movement, as it pairs beautifully with SW Cold Foam.

  1. If you're looking for a soft, creamy beige greige kitchen cabinet paint to pair with SW Cold Foam, I recommend getting a paint sample of SW Shoji White, as it has the right touch of warmth without being overly creamy. When paired correctly, this is a beatiful color palette in a kitchen.
